Preventive eye care
|
Ametropia, strabismus, and in rare cases, media opacities and other eye diseases are the most frequently occuring vision disorders during childhood. Ametropia, as well as corneal reflex symmetry indicating a possible strabismus, are easily measured with the plusoptiX S09. Media opacities are discernable on screen. The necessity of a comprehensive eye examination by the ophthalmologist can be assessed non-invasively in combination with a Stereo-Lang-Test.
The earlier vision disorders are detected and treated, the more successfully amblyopia can be prevented.
Established visual acuity tests can only be carried out relatively late, when children can communicate. Beyond this, it is not possible to detect ametropia reliably with these tests. However, ametropias are the most frequent cause of amblyopia and can only be reliably diagnosed by a determination of refraction. The plusoptiX S09 simultaneously measures the refraction of both eyes (binocular) at one meter distance in a matter of seconds. To detect amblyogenic risk factors at an early stage, the first preventive eye examination with the plusoptiX S09 should be carried out before the first birthday.
